ABOUT US
FIRST OF ITS KIND
In the first-ever university scholarship at UCLA created by and named for a television series, “The Big Bang Theory” and The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation established The Big Bang Theory (TBBT) Scholarship to support high-performing undergraduate students in need of financial aid who are pursuing their higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at UCLA.
The TBBT Scholarship was launched in 2015 with an initial donation from The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation combined with gifts from nearly 50 individuals associated with “The Big Bang Theory” — including series stars, executive producers, and crew — plus partners such as Warner Bros. Television and CBS, as well as contributions from other industry leaders.
The Big Bang Theory (TBBT) Graduate Fellowship was launched in 2019 by The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation to ensure that graduate school is always perceived as a reachable reality for TBBT Scholars. From their entry into UCLA, TBBT Scholars are informed of, prepared for, and encouraged to apply for a TBBT Graduate Fellowship. This holistic funding approach, from undergraduate to graduate education, reflects a unique, underpinning commitment to a transformative investment in inclusion, students, and the STEM pipeline.
